Alexandre Aréthuse

Finecraft creator. Founder of Atelier Aréthuse.

I was born in Amboise, France in 1980 and now I run Atelier Aréthuse. My journey to this point has taken 20 years of experience in product development, starting with international export/import of interior decoration items. I wanted to do more than just trading and so I created a collection of high-end garden furniture, built to last with every detail carefully considered. After meeting my partner in Paris, I moved to Denmark 12 years ago and this strengthened my appreciation for wood furniture. I studied the work of the greatest Scandinavian furniture makers and decided to become a Danish-educated furniture maker. I then began my career at Brdr. Krüger as an apprentice and have since risen to manager of their furniture department. I was responsible for the creation of new products, overseeing the production of the collection, and managing special projects, such as the furniture designed by Studio David Thulstrup for the restaurant Noma 2.0.

At the end of 2020, my ambition to advance with the development of unique furniture pieces, combined with my eagerness to experiment drove me to take a new direction, wherein I use old techniques with modern methods and break traditional boundaries. My knowledge, gathered from many years of experience in related fields, and my inquisitive nature create an abundance of opportunities. I now refer to myself as a Finecraft Creator, as I integrate all my skills (industrial design, experimentation, furniture engineering, product development, traditional & modern craftsmanship and project management) into a single operation, with a relentless pursuit of visible and sensory perfection, and always with an innovative mindset.
